SGML Forum/DataChannel Meeting Now on Web

Subject: SGML Forum/DataChannel Meeting Now on Web
Forum: comp.text.sgml
From: Chet.Ensign chet.ensign@bender.com
Date: 1999/03/27

On March 16th, the SGML Forum of New York was fortunate enough to have Norbert H. Mikula and Chris Gale of DataChannel give a presentation on information portals (gateways to Web information delivery) and XML. Mr. Mikula's presentation addressed the problems of information distribution, approaches to solving the problem and what role XML does & will play.

For those who could not attend, the meeting is available from the Forum's web site (www.sgmlny.org) in streaming video format. (Just click the link on the bottom of the Forum's homepage.) The meeting was recorded and made available by the generosity of Desktop Live, Inc. (www.desktoplive.com) - a company dedicated to using the latest internet technology to deliver corporate communications.

Norbert Mikula is Director of Architectural Services at DataChannel. He is also the technical representative for DataChannel at the Open Applications Group. He developed one of the first XML parsers (NXP) and has been engaged in XML related efforts since the early days of the standard. Currently Norbert also serves as Chief Technology Officer on the board of directors of OASIS - the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards.

Desktop Live, located in New York City, provides event services and streaming media support for Fortune 500 conferences, events, presentations and training. They have over a decade of conference and technology management experience.

I don't know how long the event will remain available, so if you are interested in the topic, you may want to view it soon.

Best regards,

/chet
