OASIS CIQ Technical Committee

Journée Software Joins OASIS CIQ Technical Committee

Accelerates Delivery Of XML Standards to Customers

Austin, Texas, USA. August 13, 2002.

Journée Software, a leading provider of customer data integration and management solutions, today announced that Rob Beauchamp, chief technology officer of Journée, has joined the Customer Information Quality (CIQ) Technical Committee of OASIS, the XML interoperability consortium. The CIQ technical committee's objective is to define global XML Standards for Customer Information and Profile Management. Journée also announced that it will ship a reference implementation of the CIQ standard as part of its ServiceStream solution, providing customers with an industry-standard customer data model that can be customized to fit any business environment.

The OASIS CIQ Technical Committee has formally approved and published three XML standards that will provide the basis for the Journée reference implementation. These standards include:

  • xNAL: Extensible Name and Address Language
  • xCIL: Extensible Customer Information Language
  • xCRL: Extensible Customer Relationships Language

"ServiceStream embodies the principles that OASIS has formalized in the CIQ standards," said Rob Beauchamp, Chief Technology Officer of Journée. "Our product frees data that is trapped in different formats or schemas, creating a virtual information hub that can be used for live customer interactions and transactions. By incorporating an enterprise customer model using the OASIS standards, we will enable companies to support different views of the customer across different lines of business and simplify the real-time integration of multiple customer data sources."

"By defining a common way for systems to share information about customers and customer interactions, CIQ represents a major step forward in data interoperability," said Patrick Gannon, president and CEO of OASIS. "We are pleased that Journée is contributing its considerable expertise in data integration solutions to CIQ development."

ServiceStream will use the CIQ model to represent a common set of customer data that can be shared by multiple applications within the enterprise. Using ServiceStream's configuration tools, the data in the model is "mapped" to the physical data residing in various business systems. By packaging the enterprise customer model with ServiceStream, Journée eliminates the time- consuming and labor-intensive task of designing and building a customized enterprise data model. Companies can use ServiceStream's tools to easily modify and extend the model, accelerating development schedules and reducing data integration costs.

The reference implementation of the CIQ standard will be included as a fully operational part of Journée's ServiceStream software beginning in October 2002.
