The deadline for paper submissions for XML Europe Conference 2002 is Friday, 14 December. XML Europe 2002 takes place in Barcelona, Spain, 19-24 May. For guidelines and to submit a proposal, visit the event web site at:

In its 19th year as the premiere European Markup Technologies Conference & Exposition, this event will continue to serve as an exchange of information forum, bringing companies to new heights within the industry.
IDEAlliance has proven to lead the way in Europe and hope that the participation level will continue to excel. Therefore, IDEAlliance is seeking presentation and tutorial abstracts on all the areas listed below, and ask members of the industry, government, and academia to participate:

- Core XML Technologies
- Databases
- Electronic Business
- Government and Legal
- Graphic and Multimedia
- Knowledge Technologies
- Publishing
- Web Services
The above topics are merely areas of interest to the event, and are not meant to exclude other ideas.

Because of the recent problems on the list, many may have missed Marion Elledge's reminder about the upcoming deadline (14th December) for proposals for XML Europe 2002.

All interested parties are invited to submit proposals. Presentations will be chosen to fit 45-minute time blocks (30-35 minutes for presentation and 10-15 minutes for questions).
A version of the paper MUST also be written in XML for publication in the CD ROM and Web site conference proceedings. XML authoring software will be provided. Further instructions will follow upon acceptance.
All selected speakers will receive a FREE registration for the conference, provided their paper, tagged in XML, is received by the 1 March 2002 deadline. Please note that this only applies to one presenter per paper.
