XML for Analysis (XMLA) Event

XML for Analysis (XMLA) Event

May 13, 2003

On May 13, 2003 over 20 member companies of the XML for Analysis (XMLA) Council will participate in the worlds first public XMLA interoperability demonstration at The Data Warehouse Institute World Conference in San Francisco CA.

Leading researchers, developers, executives and industry analysts will gather to discuss how XMLA products help answer the most pressing business and technology questions of managing the complexity resulting from the explosion of BI applications.

What is XMLA?

XML for Analysis (XMLA) is an open industry-standard web service interface designed specifically for online analytical processing (OLAP) and data-mining functions. It is a key enabler of a new generation of Business Intelligence solutions that will allow businesses to develop and deploy solutions more quickly, easily and broadly in today's information technology environments.

The architecture of XMLA builds upon the existing web service standards of HTTP, XML, and SOAP. It provides the basis for interoperability between loosely coupled Business Intelligence technologies from multiple vendors running on a variety of hardware and operating systems over the Web and in private distributed environments.

Expert perspective and insight from key industry players.

XMLA has evolved from the original paper specification to actual product implementations. For the first time ever, you have an opportunity to see these Business Intelligence web service providers and consumers interoperating. Visit the XMLA interoperability demonstration and you will: See products from different vendors interoperating LIVE. Hear members of product development teams explain the details of their implementations. Learn how your organization can benefit from implementing XMLA compliant products.

About the XML/A Council

The XMLA Council ( was formed in April 2001 to develop and define the XMLA specifications. The council is co-chaired by leading Business Intelligence platform vendors Hyperion, Microsoft and The SAS Institute. The council has extremely broad support from the Business Intelligence industry.
