OASIS and ISO TC154
OASIS members,
We are pleased to announce that OASIS and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) TC154 have established a formal liaison relationship that will strengthen our ability to collaborate on technical work.
OASIS is now a Class A Liaison member of the ISO TC154, and ISO TC154 has joined OASIS a Contributor. While OASIS and ISO have long had many active members in common, this new liaison relationship grants official representatives from each organization the right to participate in technical discussions of the other.
With its focus on e-business, ISO TC154 is involved in work that relates to many OASIS TCs. We expect the OASIS UBL, BTP and ebXML TCs, in particular, to benefit from increased participation in TC154 and visa versa.
This announcement follows recent news of OASIS' liaison with the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC34, and OASIS' inclusion in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Electronic Business with ISO, International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE).
OASIS TCs who feel their work would profit from liaison relationships like this -- whether with ISO TC154 or with other standards setting bodies -- should contact Karl Best (karl.best@oasis-open.org) for more information.
