OAGIS Version 8.0 Available

Date: Sat, 6 Apr 2002 11:01:21 -0500
From: Michael Rowell <mrowell@openapplications.org>
Subject: OAGIS 8.0 is now available

Everyone,

OAGIS 8.0 is now available from the Open Applications Group's Web Site at www.openapplications.org.

While OAGIS 8.0 is equivalent to OAGIS 7.2.1 in content, it adds support for long tag names, XML Schemas, XSL and XPath. OAGIS 8.0 takes advantage of many capabilities of these "core" XML technologies in order to provide a true horizontal specification for integration. Along with the UserArea, it provides support for Vertical Overlays, which can be used to by industry verticals and implementations to layer additional requirements over OAGIS allowing companies in different verticals to communicate with the same messages by simply applying the constraints that are appropriate for the given context.

Also in OAGIS 8.0 all documentation is in HTML format so you can view with your favorite browser (you will need support for frames).

OAGI, will be providing a half day training session on OAGIS 8.0 at our meeting on April 10, in our Technical meetings April 9-11 host by NIST in Washington D.C.

To learn more visit out www.openapplications.org and download OAGIS today.

Also, I would like to that the XML team, without them this release would not be possible. They all have put in a lot of time and effort to ensure that OAGIS 8.0 is a quality release.

I look forward to seeing you in Washington D.C.

Michael Rowell
