JanRain Launches RPX and OPX Hosted OpenID Solutions

JanRain Launches Industry's First Suite of Hosted OpenID Solutions

Portland, Oregon, USA. October 9, 2008.

JanRain, Inc., the leading provider of OpenID technology and services for consumers and businesses, announces the launch and availability of RPX and OPX, the industry's first completely outsourced OpenID solutions for organizations that want to accept OpenIDs as a login method for their websites or to issue branded OpenIDs to their users. Details on the feature set and deployment options are available on JanRain's newly launched website, www.janrain.com.

JanRain's OpenID-enablement products allow organizations to accelerate website user registration and login while benefiting from the convenience and security of turnkey SaaS solutions.

JanRain's RPX product is a secure, enterprise-class SaaS solution that allows a website to accept and verify OpenIDs and receive user data instantly. It offers the richest feature set and is the most comprehensive OpenID solution on the market. RPX can be deployed and integrated with an existing website's registration system in less than a day, allowing businesses to realize the benefits of increased registrations and logins almost immediately.

JanRain's OPX products offer a world-class OpenID Provider platform that enable organizations to issue and manage branded OpenIDs for their customers, employees, or members. The products are compliant with the latest OpenID protocols, have comprehensive security features, and facilitate user profile management through simple registration (SREG), attribute exchange, and OAuth. Most solutions can be integrated and deployed with an existing website's user database in less than a day.

"Implementing a branded, standards-compliant single sign-on capability was critical to launching our identity and reputation management services for consumers," stated John Lawler, Sr. director of product management at Identity.net. "By deploying the RPX and OPX solutions, we were able to implement a robust OpenID capability with much less effort. Our resulting ability to redirect engineering resources to other areas allowed us to come to market much more quickly. Moreover, we now have a partner that ensures we are always up to date as the OpenID standard continues to evolve."

Over 500 million website users are enabled with an OpenID from major providers such as Yahoo!, AOL, France Telecom, Google Blogger, and soon from MySpace. Website owners are looking for a way to easily accept these users onto their website and provide an accelerated registration and login process. Increasing the conversion rates from a website visitor to registered user can have a dramatic impact on an organization's site objectives and bottom line. In its first month of deploying OpenID on its website, a major online real estate listing company saw a 200% increase in new registrations.

"With the opportunity to significantly increase site registrations and rapid advancement of open standards, many organizations, both large and small, are demanding turnkey OpenID solutions that are simple to use, easy to deploy, cost effective, and remove the operational burden," said Brian Kissel, CEO of JanRain. "By launching a suite of hosted OpenID products, including RPX and OPX, we are meeting the needs of the market and expanding our technological leadership in OpenID."

JanRain continues to collaborate with AOL, Google, Yahoo!, MySpace, and other members of the OpenID community in designing and developing OpenID website enablement solutions that make it easy for websites to deploy OpenID and for customers to use their OpenID.
