Nuxeo Supports OASIS in CMIS Standardization

Nuxeo Joins OASIS

To Participate in the CMIS Standardization Process

Paris, November 17, 2008.

Nuxeo, independent software vendor and creator of the ECM open source platform, announces its membership in the OASIS standardization consortium. Nuxeo will participate in the definition of the future CMIS standard known as the Content Management Interoperability Standard. This membership follows upon the very positive response of Nuxeo to the presentation of CMIS in September 2008.

Nuxeo will take part in the OASIS workgroup dedicated to CMIS. The objective of the workgroup is to standardize an interface in the form of web services that will improve the interoperability of ECM — Enterprise Content Management systems.

The use cases and technologies highlighted in this workgroup include Web services, Web 2.0, scalability, service orientation and resource orientation. These factors are in compliance with Nuxeo's approach, an approach that places SOA and REST services at the heart of its architecture. The objective is to encourage the interoperability of its platform and its use by third party ISVs (OEM).

Nuxeo's implementation prototype of the current draft of CMIS is in progress, and it will be available in December, 2008. This release will be concurrent with the next release of Nuxeo platform.

Stéfan Fermigier, founder and chairman of Nuxeo, stated:

"For a long time now one of the main considerations of IT management is that interoperability is seen as a means to reduce risks and costs, speed up deployments, and to be free from limitations inherent to ISVs. By actively supporting CMIS, Nuxeo renews its commitment to work with other ISVs, participates in an innovative ecosystem, and helps its customers to reduce costs in these times of economic troubles."

Eric Barroca, Nuxeo's Executive VP, Operations further stated:

"The Nuxeo Platform is perfectly adapted for an API access such as CMIS, which already uses concepts that are standard for Nuxeo. The advanced functions of our platform, such as versioning, complex searches, and correlation, will be available via CMIS, making those functions accessible to a vast range of content creation, editing or processing applications, all within the enterprise information system.

In addition to OASIS, Nuxeo is also member of the following organizations:

  • the Java Community Process (JCP): Nuxeo notably participated actively in the definition of the JCR2 standard the Java Content Repository, second edition.

  • the Eclipse Foundation: Nuxeo, which uses RCP Eclipse technologies for some of its product range, steers the Apogee Eclipse project for the ECM client.

  • APROGED and AIIM: the main professional associations dedicated to ECM in France and in the world.

  • System@ticCompetitive Pole: Nuxeo participates in the development of this open source ecosystem in the greater Paris region.
