Netegrity Showcases WS-Security and SAML Support

Netegrity Showcases Federation Interoperability With Microsoft at Tech Ed Conference

Companies Utilize WS-Security and SAML to Securely Share Identity Information Across Partner Sites

San Diego, California, USA. May 25, 2004. Microsoft Tech Ed Conference.

Netegrity, Inc., a leading provider of identity and access management solutions, today announced that it is demonstrating federation technology interoperability with Microsoft utilizing WS-Security and SAML standards. The demonstration at the Microsoft Tech Ed Conference shows how a user can log into a portal and then securely access services provided by an external partner without having to log in again. In this scenario, the partner is able to provide services to the user by securely consuming identity information using the combination of WS-Security and SAML. Netegrity's identity and access management products leverage a broad range of identity federation standards to enable partners to securely share identity information across sites.

"Customers are looking for ways to easily extend their network identity management to strategic partners in a Web services environment. We're very pleased to be working with Netegrity to develop and promote an interoperable federated identity management solution based on Web services architecture," said Andy Lees, corporate vice president, Server and Tools Business Group, Microsoft Corp. "This solution offers our customers a tremendous opportunity to improve operational efficiency, strengthen IT security, and reduce costs for enabling business-to-business commerce."

This comes on the heels of the announcement of the Netegrity Universal Federation Architecture which enables companies to securely share identity information across applications within the enterprise as well as to external partner companies. Netegrity is the only vendor that enables comprehensive deployments that span both browser-based and Web services-based federation. Netegrity also provides customers with a broad choice of standards to use in their federation implementations, including SAML, Liberty, and WS-Security. Utilizing Netegrity's identity and access management products, customers are able to incorporate their federated identity initiatives as part of an enterprise wide identity management infrastructure.

"Federated identity has become a key enabler behind several business initiatives," said Bill Bartow, vice president of engineering at Netegrity. "Working with Microsoft, Netegrity continues to ensure that it is delivering solutions to customers that will enable them to fully leverage a federated business model."
