We generated a sample XML database "Mondial" which can serve as a demo and example for XML/XSL-related stuff. The database (.dtd and .xml) is available at:
The database contains geographical and political facts about the world; compiled from the CIA World Factbook and several other Web sources (containing about 250 countries, 1400 provinces, 3000 cities, 170 political organizations with 7700 memberships and some geographical data).
The compilation of the database has been done as a case study for information integration from (Non-XML) Web sources using the Florid system. It is used at the Institute for Computer Science at Freiburg University for teaching XML-related topic to students.
The database is freely available for educational and research purposes. Comments are welcome.
