XML Registries and Repositories

OASIS Advises Europe on XML Registries and Repositories

XML One Features "Building the XML Backbone" by Norbert Mikula

London, England. 4-October-1999.

OASIS, the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards, will address representatives of the European XML community on the significance of XML registries and repositories. In a presentation at XML One Europe in Westminster, London on 6 October 1999, Norbert Mikula (DataChannel), chief technical officer of OASIS, will brief attendees on "Building the XML Backbone" and the importance of a vendor-neutral XML Registry and Repository from an applied systems design perspective.

"The need to establish an open, vendor-neutral registry and repository is critical for the industry as a whole," explained Mikula. "In London, I will discuss the mission of the OASIS XML.org Registry and Repository and how XML.org relates to other industry initiatives including Biztalk and CommerceNet's eCo."

Prior to Mikula's presentation, OASIS members from around the world will gather to discuss new Consortium technical work including the Electronic Business XML Initiative, a joint effort by OASIS and the United Nations. The OASIS Board of Directors will also convene to discuss new enhancements to XML.org.
