Application Security Interoperability Demo at RSA Conference
Gartner Analyst to Lead Panel Discussion on Application Security Interoperability at RSA Conference
Leading Application Security Vendors to Demonstrate New AVDL Standard in Action
San Francisco, CA, USA. February 9, 2004.
What: John Pescatore, VP of Research at Gartner, leads a panel discussion on one of today's hottest topics -- automated response to application security threats.
Where: RSA Conference, Moscone Convention Center, San Francisco, California, USA.
When: Wednesday, February 25, 2004, 11:15 a.m.
Title: Standards in Application Security and the Benefits of Interoperability
Abstract: John Pescatore, VP of Security Research at Gartner, hosts a panel of leading application security experts to address the growing challenge of responding to application-layer security threats. The highly dynamic nature of the web has made it virtually impossible for security managers to stay ahead of new threats. Next-generation application security products are helping, but several new standards on the horizon promise to go even further by enabling broad interoperability between products from different vendors. This panel will discuss the merits of these emerging application security standards, how they are likely to impact security managers and what enterprises should be doing now to get ready.
AVDL at RSA: In addition to participation in the above panel discussion, several vendors will be conducting live demonstrations of one of these standards, the Application Vulnerability Description Language (AVDL). Demonstrations will show live interoperability between products from Citadel (patch management), NetContinuum (application gateway) and SPI Dynamics (application vulnerability assessment). The AVDL Technical Committee will also be issuing a news announcement at RSA regarding the status of the AVDL standard. More information on AVDL is available at http://www.avdl.org.
