DMSi Releases X2XL Beta for Conversion of XML Tables to Excel
DMSi Announces Availability of X2XL Beta
Andover, MA, USA. June 23, 2003.
Document Management Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of XML integration services for the publishing industry, today announced the beta release of X2XL, a program designed to convert tables adhering to the OASIS XML Exchange model to Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. "Our customers have asked us to develop an application that would make it easy for them to transform their XML tables into Excel spreadsheets for use by their internal users as well as their customers and suppliers," said David Giusto, President of DMSi. The product was unveiled at Open Publish 2003, held in Philadelphia, PA.
X2XL provides an easy-to-use GUI that guides the user through the setup process, defining user-specific markup used within the OASIS model to identify style information such as bold, italic, superscript and subscript, as well as any specific fonts and ruling requirements. The application can be run in the background, processing hundreds of tables at a time, or interactively, depending on the workflow process.
"The OASIS table model is the de facto standard in XML publishing environments," said Mary McRae, Senior Vice President and Principal XML Technologist at DMSi. "The only problem is that most individuals do not use an XML editor on a daily basis; instead, they use Microsoft Office. X2XL allows tables to be delivered to users in a format that they're extremely comfortable with -- Microsoft Excel."
Built on Java, X2XL runs on both Windows and Unix platforms, and works with Excel '98, empower people through great software -- any time, any place and on any device.
