W3C Creates Web Services Choreography Working Group.
W3C has created a new Web Services Choreography Working Group as part of its Web Services Activity. Choreography describes linkages and usage patterns between Web services. The WG is chartered to create the definition of a choreography, one or more languages built on WSDL 1.2 for describing choreography, and rules for choreographed Web services. The specifications will define composition features, associations, message exchanges, and state management. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2003-01-14-b.html
W3C Publishes Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) 1.1 and Mobile SVG as Recommendations.
W3C has released the "Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) 1.1" and "Mobile SVG Profiles: SVG Tiny and SVG Basic" specifications as W3C Recommendations. SVG is a language for describing two-dimensional graphics in XML, including vector graphic shapes, images and text. SVG version 1.1 separates the SVG language into reusable building blocks. Mobile SVG defines a SVG Tiny profile for cellphones and an SVG Basic profile suitable for PDAs. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2003-01-14-a.html
OASIS Members Form Emergency Management Technical Committee.
Affiliates of seven OASIS member companies have formed an Emergency Management Technical Committee to advance the fields of incident preparedness and response in addition to emergency management. The TC members will design, develop, and release XML Schema-based standards that provide a framework for data exchange, functionality, and service accessibility, all with the common goal of seamless application and data interoperability. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2003-01-10-b.html
W3C Working Draft Specification for XML Schema Component Designators.
The W3C XML Schema Working Group has released an initial working draft for "XML Schema: Component Designators." The specification defines a system for designating XML Schema components. The document addresses a range of problematic issues in the use of a 'QName' to designate schema components as defined in the W3C XML Schema Recommendation. The editors analyze several proposed solutions as a basis for their approach to the problem. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2003-01-10-a.html
Web Services Vendors Publish Royalty-Free WS-Reliability Specification.
Six vendors have published the working draft of a "Web Services Reliability (WS-Reliability)" specification designed for open, reliable Web services messaging, including guaranteed delivery, duplicate message elimination, and message ordering, enabling reliable communication between Web services. The reliability features are based on extensions to the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP). Appendices document the XML Schema and a Futures List. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2003-01-09-a.html
