README file for DTDS subdirectory on SOLIS

This README file provides basic instructions for installing the DTDs
once they have been downloaded onto your local file system. For more
information on the use of SGML for STEP or general information about
the STEP DTDs, see file pub/step/sgml/readme.txt.

Installing STEP DTDs
--------------------

The latest DTD release can always be found in this directory
(pub/step/sgml/dtds) in file stepdtds.tar. Subirectores ver# contain
prior releases of the DTDs. Up to two prior releases will be maintained
on SOLIS at all times.

After downloading the stepdtds.tar file from this directory, complete
the following steps ON YOUR LOCAL FILE SYSTEM:

1. copy the stepdtd.tar file to the directory in which you want the
   DTDs to be installed and cd to that directory

2. 'un'tar the stepdtd.tar file as follows

	tar -xvf stepdtd

3. follow the directions in dtds/readme.txt to complete the
   installation and for instructions on using the DTDs wtih specific
   SGML parser applications.
