DATE: October 28, 1996 FOR RELEASE: IMMEDIATE GCA'S SGML '96 BOSTON CONFERENCE OFFERS "THE" BOSS AN OPPORTUNITY TO UNDERSTAND SGML (Alexandria, VA) - Top management in both the public and private sectors has an opportunity at this year's SGML'96 Conference, November 18 - 21, 1996, Boston, to hear presentations in a special "Business/Management" track that will enable them to make better decisions on how to integrate SGML, Standard Generalized Markup Language, into their organizations' information systems. Conducted by the nonprofit Graphic Communications Association (GCA), this year's conference will be held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel and Towers and the Hynes Convention Center. On Tuesday, November 19, managers will hear five presentations, covering cost justification for SGML, Intranets and SGML, standard tools versus standard data representations, and more. In the afternoon, attendees can view actual SGML- related product demonstrations by more than 40 vendors at the SGML Exposition. GCA officials report that this one-day track concentrates on policy objectives and cost justification behind the decision to use SGML. The morning sessions show how SGML can fit into a multi-media corporate publishing program, how to anticipate and defuse problems with various stake-holders in the publications process, and how to introduce the concepts and benefits of SGML to a wide variety of audiences. Attendees may register for either the one-day Business/Management track or the entire conference by contacting the GCA offices, 100 Daingerfield Road, Alexandria, VA 22314-2888, 703-519-8167.
