------------------------------------------------------------------------- This year is the tenth anniversary of the SGML standard. For SGML'96 (November, Boston) we are planning a brief review of events in the develoment and use of SGML. Please help! Remind us of the important events. We are interested in the standard and its development, and the products, the applications, the people, the meetings, the false starts and the successes. What were the most significant: Events in standards develoment? What happened? Who was there? What was most significant about it? We are interested both in the SGML standard AND in the full complement of related standards) Products? When were they announced? When did they ship? Did they break any new ground? Open any new markets? Highlight any new kinds of documents or processing? Demonstrations? What did it show? When and where? Applications? Who did it? What was so innovative? Meetings? Who was there? Who said what? What was most important? People? What did this person do? When? What is most remarkable about them or their work? Organizations? What is their involvement with SGML? Are they unusual or specially significant in any way? For each item, please give as accurate a date as you can -- remember, memory can be treacherous, so check the dates and details as fully as you can -- a brief description (20 to 50 words), and a source of more information on the topic (a citation to an article, a URL, a name and phone number, or whatever is available).
