NAME
rast - reference application for SGML testing

       An System Conforming to
       International Standard ISO 8879 --
       Standard Generalized Markup Language

SYNOPSIS
       rast [ -ewx ] [ -ccatalog_file ] filename... rastfile

DESCRIPTION
Rast is an implementation of the Reference Application for
SGML Testing defined by ISO/IEC 13673:1994 (actually this
isn't quite an IS yet; this implements the Intermediate
Editor's Draft of 1994/08/29). Rast parses the SGML docu-
ment contained in filename... and outputs to rastfile the
RAST result (this is a representation of the ESIS of a
       document).

For more information about the underlying SGML parser and
       entity manager, see nsgmls(1).

       The following options are available:

-cfile Use the catalog entry file file.

-e Describe open entities in error messages.

       -w Give warnings.

-x Do not give an error when a character that is not a
significant character in the reference concrete
syntax occurs in a literal in the SGML declaration.
This may be useful in conjunction with certain
              buggy test suites.

BUGS
In the link rule selection processing instruction, the
attribute value literal is parsed using the reference con-
crete syntax rather than the document's concrete syntax
and character references are not recognized.
