Advanced XPointers: spans

• span(xptr1,xptr2)

  • Finds everything from the start of xptr1 to the endof xptr2
  • Ihe XPointers must occur in that order

• The result is not necessarily

  • A node
  • A subtree
  • Well-formed

• For some applications they may not make sense
