IDG 's InfoWorld and WITI -Women in Technology International- Launch WITI FastTrack

SAN MATEO, Calif.-- Feb. 22, 1999--InfoWorld, the enterprise computing newsweekly, in conjunction with WITI (Women In Technology International), the premier association for women in technology, today launched WITI FastTrack, a quarterly supplement dedicated to women advancing technology.

Last October, InfoWorld and WITI announced an agreement (see Oct. 19 release, IDG 's InfoWorld partners with Women in Technology International) to develop a unique editorial package as a resource for women in technology. WITI FastTrack will break stereotypes and provide thorough investigations of corporate culture, management, and technology trends. While the publication is targeted at women, it is important to all audiences as it affects trends and issues in the technology marketplace.

"WITI FastTrack not only provides in-depth information on issues important to women, but also represents the changing industry landscape and how these issues are also important for smart business," said Sandy Reed, editor in chief of InfoWorld. "Our cover story takes a look inside the boardroom at how companies can gain from assembling a diversified board."

The premier issue of WITI FastTrack also includes an interview with Christina Jones, president, COO and founder of pcOrder about starting her own company and staying on track toward an IPO, and the TechTrack department, which explores the significance of Extensible Markup Language (XML), a technology poised to change the way the Web works.
"WITI was founded on the principle that diversity is a key ingredient to succeed in business," said Carolyn Leighton-Tal, Founding Executive Director of WITI. "The partnership with InfoWorld, and the development of WITI FastTrack, strengthens our commitment to promoting diversity by providing a platform designed to foster better understanding and communication between women in technology and business leaders."

WITI FastTrack will appear in the pages of InfoWorld and will be reprinted as programs for WITI conferences. The next WITI conference will take place in Dallas, Texas, March 18-19. Keynote speakers at the March conference include Lynn Dugle, Raytheon Systems Company, Susan Larsen, Dell Computer Corporation, Christina Jones, pcOrder, Shauna Sowell, Texas Instruments and Helen Turnbull, Human Facets.
