Subject: The Pulse of XML Author: Laura Walker <lawalker@cts.com> Date: 1999/04/12 Forum: comp.text.xml
If you want to better understand XML and its role in your future, please plan to join OASIS for an information-packed dialog: "Putting Your Finger on the Pulse of XML: Updates from Industry Experts."
This special session, hosted by OASIS, will be held in conjunction with GCA's XML Europe Conference, 26-30 April, Granada, Spain. So if you're already scheduled to attend the conference, please plan to participate. The session will begin at 16:00 (that's 4:00 PM) on Sunday, 25 April in the conference center (Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos).
The central theme of this session is, naturally, XML. We've put together a panel of experts who will describe:
the role and current efforts of the W3C
the role and current efforts of OASIS
examples of current XML implementations
The content of the session will complement that of the conference. Our goal is to help make you aware of OASIS' current efforts -- efforts that relate to the implementation/application of the W3C standards. In addition to offering you a concise update on everything about XML, our goal is to help you discover how OASIS helps bring stability and order to the fast-moving world of IT standards work.
About OASIS
OASIS -- the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards -- provides tangible and symbolic support for education and advocacy of interoperable, standards-based computing solutions within an international arena where overlapping and competing standards, as well as incompatible implementations, frequently tend to fragment the industry. In doing so, OASIS provides a forum within which a company can help prevent this industry fragmentation. OASIS is not just a "watchdog" group, but a consortium of partners that participate actively in the process of enabling open-standards implementation. OASIS is working hard on several fronts through standards education and advocacy, and provides a wealth of online standards-related information and resources that contribute to a knowledge base which will supports decision-making.
By joining in, you will get the most up-to-date information on current OASIS and W3C technical work. There will be have ample opportunity to ask questions, raise issues, and make suggestions. Please plan to join us for an exciting afternoon!
Best regards,
[LW]
