The Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) has released a beta version for the XML Process Definition Language (XPDL). XPDL forms a common interchange standard that enables products to continue to support arbitrary internal representations of process definitions with an import/export function to map to/from the standard at the product boundary. The release includes a common meta-model for describing the process definition and an XPDL XML schema. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-09-10-a.html Creative Commons Project Releases RDF Metadata Specification for Copyright Licenses. The Creative Commons Project has released a new draft Metadata Specification which defines RDF descriptions for copyright licenses. The specification describes Works, Licenses, and License Characteristics (permissions, prohibitions, requirements). Licenses are generated from a database designed to support 'beyond fair use' terms. The IBM XML Schema Quality Checker version 2.1.1 from IBM Alphaworks has been released. XML Schema Quality Checker (SQC) is a program which takes as input documents containing XML Schemas written in the W3C XML schema language and diagnoses improper uses of the schema language. Changes include: improved error detection; use of Apache XERCES-J version 2.1; Schema Errata fixes; new command line options; an Eclipse progress meter. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-09-05-b.html W3C Publishes Note on XHTML 1.0 in XML Schema. The W3C HTML Working Group has released a Note defining 'XHTML 1.0 in XML Schema.' "This work in progress provides informative XML schemas corresponding to the XHTML 1.0 Strict, Transitional, and Frameset DTDs. DTD validation and XML Schema validation are not mutually exclusive. Cape Clear Software has announced the availability of a free WSDL Editor graphical tool that enables developers to create and edit WSDL definitions of Web services. It facilitates the creation of Web Services Description Language (WSDL) files and manages WSDL file syntax and validation.
