The accompanying XML schema describes and defines the type of content including the entities, attributes, elements, and notation of the Federal Enterprise Architecture. An XML document supplies detailed descriptions for the federal business areas, lines of business, and sub-functions of the Federal Enterprise Architecture. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-08-13-c.html OASIS Technical Committee Proposed for XML e-Government Standards An initial proposal has been received by OASIS for a Technical Committee on 'XML-Based Standards for e-Government'. The proposers include John Borras (UK Office of e-Envoy), Jouko Salonen (Republica, Finland), and Marion Royal (U.S. GSA). A principal goal of the TC would be to coordinate and present a single voice for governments in the adoption and use of XML based standards by citizens and businesses. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-08-13-b.html Pilot Nasdaq-Hosted Web Service Features XBRL Financial Data Nasdaq, Microsoft and PricewaterhouseCoopers have launched a new pilot program to provide investors with remote access to financial data from five years of financial reports for twenty-one (21) Nasdaq-listed companies. Designed by PwC and stored on Nasdaq hardware, the online data will showcase XBRL's ability to allow for easy comparisons of the financials of companies within a particular industry, like semiconductors. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-08-13-a.html Proposed Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Rights Expression Language Based Upon ODRL A draft 'Rights Expression Language Version 1.0' from the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) defines the syntax and semantics of XML-encoded DRM content based on the Open Digital Rights Language (ODRL) specification. Part of an OMA Download specification suite, the document describes the rights governing the usage of DRM content built on a foundation model, agreement model, context model, permission model, constraint model, and security model. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-08-12-d.html W3C Acknowledges Receipt of Web Service Choreography Interface (WSCI) Submission W3C has acknowledged receipt of the 'Web Service Choreography Interface (WSCI) 1.0' specification from several W3C member companies. Initially released in June 2002 and now published as a W3C 'Note', the royalty-free WSCI specification provides an XML-based interface definition language that describes the flow of messages exchanged by a Web service participating in choreographed interactions with other services. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-08-12-c.html IBM alphaWorks Releases BPWS4J Engine and Editor IBM alphaWorks has announced a BPEL4WS implementation with engine and editor. BPEL4WS (Business Process Execution Language for Web Services) is one of three specifications recently released by Microsoft, IBM, and BEA. The BPWS4J Java Run Time includes an Eclipse editor plugin, a platform upon which business processes written using BPEL4WS can be executed, a set of examples, and validation tool for BPEL4WS documents. http://xml.coverpages.org/ni2002-08-12-b.html Web Services Specifications for Business Transactions and Process Automation Microsoft, IBM, and BEA have announced the publication of three specifications which collectively describe how to reliably define, create, and connect multiple business processes in a Web services environment. Merging XLANG and WSFL, BPEL4WS (Business Process Execution Language for Web Services) provides an XML-based flow language to define how business processes interact. 'XFrames' is an XML application which addresses the usability, search, and security problems associated with HTML frames. The content of a frameset is now made visible by its URI.
