Ovidius GmbH announces the release of MetaMorphosis-free Version 2.1
MetaMorphosis-free (MM-free) is the free version of MetaMorphosis. Use of
MM-free is governed by a special license (see http://www.ovidius.com/mm-flic.html)
MM-free is a functionally unrestricted version of MetaMorphosis.
MM-free IS AVAILABLE ONLY FOR THE LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM.
There are some changes with respect to the commercial version.
For details see http://www.ovidius.com/mmf-read.html
MetaMorphosis is an SGML tree transformer which can be used to
transform SGML document instances to various output formats.
It requires the installation of nsgmls which is not part of the
MM-free distribution.
Some of the more important features of MM are:
* MM works always in tree mode; this allows unlimited context
access during transformation
* MM is target-driven; i.e. an MM program specifies directly
the structure of the target tree
* MM has a declarative query and transformation language
This is a selection of some of the new features in Version 2.1:
* handling of SDATA entities and PIs as nodes
* support of indices; an index can hold anything which can
be the result of a MM query (strings, attributes, nodes, ...)
indices can be used to access large sets of data very
fast
* built-in pacing mode allows to interactively step through
transformations, move around in the tree, etc.
* the script compiler and many functions have been optimized; they
perform now twice as fast as before
For more information see
http://www.ovidius.com/mm-free.html
There is an online manual (http://www.ovidius.com/mmmanual/toc.html) and
an online tutorial (http://www.ovidius.com/mmtut/toc.html); both have
been converted from SGML to HTML by means of an MM script.
You can download the software and PostScript versions of the manual and the
tutorial.
Note:
I have been informed that there are problems with the PostScript files
(printing, or displaying in Ghostview, or both). I will try to fix this
in the near future.
