Announcement of a Mailing List for RELAX
Date: Fri, 21 Apr 2000 14:10:29 +0900 From: Murata Makoto <mura034@attglobal.net> To: xml-dev@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: Announcement of a mailing list for RELAX
RELAX (REgular LAnguage description for XML) is a specification for describing XML-based languages. XHTML 1.0, for example, can be described in RELAX.
RELAX will be published as technical reports by the Japanese Standard Association. It will eventually be submitted to the fast track of ISO.
RELAX is away simpler than XML Schema Part 1; on the other hand, RELAX borrows built-in datatypes of XML Schema Part 2. Thus, migration from RELAX to XML Schema is easy.
On first analysis, RELAX appears to combine greater simplicity in approach, exposition and execution with greater power -- a compelling combination under any circumstances. Given the low but omnipresent level of grumbling over the length, complexity and compromises of the W3C spec, RELAX will be given every chance to live up to its claims.
