Code for the representation of names of languages:
Part 2: Alpha-3 code

Three-letter lower-case symbols are used.

There are two sets of alpha-3 language codes, one for terminological use (ISO 639-2/T) and one for bibliographic use (ISO 639-2/B).

The Registration Authority for ISO 639 is Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. 20540 USA (c/o Network development and MARC Standards Office).

After 5 years from the adoption of the standard (i.e. in 2001), the following code may be used as a terminological code:
