Inso and enCommerce Announce Technology and Marketing Partnership

Integration of enCommerce's getAccess with Inso's DynaBase to Enable Rapid Deployment of Secure Enterprise Information Portals

NEW YORK, NY. February 18, 1999.

Inso Corporation and enCommerce, Inc. today announced a technology and marketing partnership at Inso's 1999 International User Group Conference in New York City. The partnership with enCommerce, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class secure Web access management solutions, will add significant value to DynaBase, Inso's industry leading XML-based Web content management and dynamic publishing platform.

Under the agreement, Inso and enCommerce will: cooperate to insure effective integration of enCommerce's getAccess with Inso's DynaBase; create a mutual statement of compatibility, certification and support; provide an escalation path within each organization to address customer issues; and participate in cooperative marketing and sales programs.

getAccess is a comprehensive Web access management solution that dramatically reduces the time and cost of deploying secure content on the Web. getAccess enables users to sign-on just once, presents users with a personalized menu in their native language for easier navigation and ensures that only the right people see the right information from Web-servers and applications located across the enterprise.

Industry analysts and mutual enterprise customers of Inso and enCommerce, such as Quantum Corporation, have indicated that integration of the company's respective offerings is extremely synergistic. Quantum is currently integrating DynaBase and getAccess in an enterprise-wide project to migrate a variety of loosely linked Internet, Intranet and extranet sites into a single environment that provides personalized and authorized access to users, whether inside or outside the organization. Quantum's new online environment utilizes getAccess to provide a single Web sign-on and a user-profiling system, and DynaBase for its robust content management and dynamic publishing capabilities. The resulting system delivers personalized information to the appropriate people.

According to Quantum's Chief Information Officer, Hank Delevati, "Inso and enCommerce's innovative products have allowed us to begin quickly implementing an integrated solution that will give our internal and external stakeholders easy access to information online, while providing secure access to protected resources."

"Business-to-business e-commerce is on every company's radar screen these days and will be the most powerful driving force in IT development for the next couple of years," said Frank Gilbane, CAP Ventures director and editor of the Gilbane Report. "Explosive growth has been slowed by the difficulty of building an e-commerce environment that can manage the complex content, metadata and transaction components required and by tying this information to the right people on both sides of a transaction. The combination of DynaBase and getAccess effectively addresses this bottleneck directly."

"With DynaBase, Inso has developed a standards-based enterprise publishing platform that readily integrates with other best-of-breed systems to support strategic, personalized business interactions," said Inso CEO Steve Vana-Paxhia. "Our partnership with enCommerce, a world-class provider of secure Web access solutions, underscores Inso's strength as a business partner and enables us to provide real competitive advantage to Global 2000 organizations."

"Due to global competition, enterprises are no longer questioning if they need an enterprise information portal, only how rapidly they can deploy one," said Alberto Yepez, enCommerce CEO. "getAccess and DynaBase are the two key Web infrastructure components critical for enterprises to deploy new Web applications and information services on the Web. This partnership positions both enCommerce and Inso to take advantage of the explosive, global online marketplace."

For corporations who need to ensure their online capabilities are manageable, reliable, scalable and secure, DynaBase is an integrated content management and publishing platform that supports the next generation of Web applications. Unlike competitive content management systems which are rigid and costly to operate, DynaBase is a flexible, open platform that uses XML to support any type of content, authoring tool and workflow within mission- critical Web publishing environments.

enCommerce's getAccess is a comprehensive Web access management solution with plug-in authentication, authorization and administration services that dramatically reduces the time and cost of deploying secure content on the Web. getAccess creates a personalized portal to enterprise information whereby users sign-on once and authenticate with passwords, digital certificates or hardware tokens and authorization is based on roles and business rules. Application-level access is fine-grained and controlled down to buttons or fields within Web pages. Administrators centrally define, monitor, enforce and audit information security policies while delegating control back to departmental, branch or help-desk administrators. getAccess' cross-platform and distributed architecture supports enterprise-scale business critical solutions. getAccess brings a new approach to managing information access and security designed specifically for the Web.
