Dear reader, geachte lezer,

We received the message that Jan Grootenhuis died last friday, May 16, 
1997.

Jan was one of the leading figures in the Dutch SGML community. Many 
members of the Dutch SGML users group first got acquainted with SGML 
by Jan's courses and articles.

Beside his work for his own company CIRCE, he had an impact on the use
of
SGML in Dutch companies, among others by his editorial efforts in 
<!ELEMENT, the newsletter for the Dutch SGML UG.

We hold good memories of his inspiring personality and will miss him.

Jan has been buried this morning, thursday May 22, 1997.
