DataChannel Integrates XML Capability into Microsoft Word

'Channels To the Desktop' Authoring Available to Anyone Who Can Use Microsoft Word

BELLEVUE, Wash., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Extending advanced web publishing tools to a broader audience, DataChannel(R), the leader in enterprise webcasting software, today announced "Push Channel" authoring capability from Microsoft Word. While most push-related vendor tools require knowledge of proprietary authoring tools, languages and or programming skills, ChannelManager allows any Word user to easily publish a channel. DataChannel's XML engine generates an XML file automatically when the user clicks the "Publish to Channel" "Save As" menu item within Word.

A demo of ChannelManager's authoring capability may be seen at Seybold San Francisco, Oct 1-3 at the Microsoft booth, South Hall @1233.

ChannelManager 1.0, supporting any 32-bit Java-enabled, is available now. A preview release of ChannelManager is available for free download from the DataChannel website, www.datachannel.com. Support of XML and Word authoring will be available in ChannelManager Release 2.0 to be available in Q4 1997.
