Just ran across the subject book at my local book store (Book Stop in
Austin, TX). It's part of the Que Special Edition series. From the brief
look I've been able to give, it looks pretty good.
It aims to be an entry-level "how to get up and doing stuff with SGML"
book, something we've needed for a long time. I can't really judge how
well it reaches its target audience (it's all I can do to bring myself
to read yet another explanation of what SGML is), but it seems pretty
accessible. Lots of graphics and examples. I didn't find any glaring
technical errors in the parts I looked at (the authors listed all know
their stuff and shouldn't be making glaring errors in any case).
It comes with a CD that includes all the usual free tools
(SP/Perl/Panorama/Near and Far Lite), as well some DynaText books and
Rainbow maker.
especially like the "Working with Consultants" sections, which give
very good advice about preparing for working with consultants on SGML
projects.
Dr. Macro says "check it out."
