Date: Wed, 6 Dec 2000 08:01:11 -0500 From: Michel Biezunski <mb@infoloom.com> To: "Xtm-Wg@Egroups. Com" <xtm-wg@egroups.com> Subject: [xtm-wg] Announcement of XTM 1.0
Version 1.0 of XTM has been released and announced on the plenary session of the XML 2000 Conference.
Version 1.0 is made of:
core deliverables (DTD, conformance clause, published subjects). This is now fixed, and can be used as a basis for implementing topic maps.
the rest of the specification needs editorial improvement, and is entering a review period by the Authoring Group especially for achieving full consistency between the parts written by various authors. Time was too short for us to complete this task, despite the tremendous amount of work accomplished by the editorial team.
The Paris meeting (January 19-20-21 2001) will be the end of the review process. Final specification should be available for distribution at the Knowledge Technologies Conference in Austin, Texas, early March.
The specification is available at www.topicmaps.org.
Thank you to all of the members of the Authoring Group who have made this possible. We have accomplished a great achievement by releasing on time. We still are not done with XTM. On the contrary, it looks like it's just the beginning of exciting times.
