Microstar Software Ltd. has just released version 1.1 of its free Java-based XML parser, AElfred. You can download AElfred from the following URL:
AElfred is a very small, very fast XML parser optimised for use with applets, where Java 1.0.2 compatibility and download time are major requirements. AElfred is forgiving with some errors, but otherwise supports the entire feature set of the XML 1.0 recommendation including Unicode, defaulted attribute values, external DTD subsets, external entities, and flagging of ignorable whitespace. The distribution also contains a native SAX (Simple API for XML) driver so that you can interchange AElfred with other SAX-supported parsers without rewriting your code.
Version 1.1 introduces a smaller, cleaner interface, together with some important new functionality:
