Ruple Alpha Version Two

Rogue Wave Software Announces Availability of Ruple Alpha Version Two

Second Version of Ruple Technology Extends Web Services Capabilities

Boulder, Colorado, USA. January 29, 2002.

Rogue Wave Software, Inc., a leading global software and consulting services company, today introduced the second alpha version of its Ruple technology on the company's online Technology Access Center (TAC). Ruple Alpha Version 2 lets users include MIME attachments with XML documents and offers a Ruple Forum Server download, giving users the opportunity to create and host their own forum for exploration and discovery.

This latest version incorporates code examples and comprehensive documentation, demonstrating insight into the technology and the flexibility of Ruple. In addition, the company will gather examples of user applications developed with the Ruple technology and will post selected applications on the live site for other visitors to download and explore.

Originally introduced to the public in early November 2001, Ruple uses the existing Internet infrastructure to provide a shared memory space for multiple applications from which XML documents can be read or to which XML documents can be written. Ruple provides asynchronous and one-to-many communications, in addition to targeted security measures and simple interactions.

"Ruple is another example of how Rogue Wave continues to innovate in the areas of secure XML document exchange and Web services," stated John Floisand, CEO of Rogue Wave Software.

"We have learned a great deal from the technologists who have explored the first version of Ruple on our online TAC," commented Scott Hendrickson, director of product management. "With Ruple Alpha Version 2, we are utilizing that feedback to evolve first-generation business solutions based on this emerging technology."

Currently, the company is focusing on both introducing Ruple technology to the marketplace and gaining experience in its many possible uses. To support this strategy, Rogue Wave has two distinct teams concentrating on Ruple: the Ruple development team and the Ruple business development team. This two-pronged approached allows Rogue Wave to obtain input from the myriad of developers exploring the technology, and to work with interested participants to help solve their business challenges.
