UN/CEFACT FORUM March 2007 General Notes (Tim McGrath) UBL Convergence --------------- Anders Grangard (UBL liaison point) and I will update Work Plan for 2007 in the next few weeks. ATG - Applied Techology Group ----------------------------- ATG2 - XML Syntax Only root schemas for CII and e-Tendering audited by ICG, the common library and data types are not. NDR 3.0 (dependent on CCTS 3.0) is the target for convergence on common NDRs. Local versus Global All local not an option All global is an option but may entail excessively long tag names A 'hybrid' approach (based on distinguishing composites from aggregates at the modeling level) has been proposed and agreed to be implementable BUT cannot be adopted until the necessary modeling definitions are applied. By default the results would be all global (all associations are currently treated as composites) So, no change required yet. Extensions All parties represented (ACORD, GS1, OAG) use some type of 'extension' point at the root level (and xsd:any) All agreed any recommendations could only be 'best practice guideline' not normative. Most use and agreed a secondary validation is necessary (and useful) others provide extended schema derived from normative one. Both these issues indicate that these are problems at the modeling level, not the syntax level. Interim meeting June 25 Waldorf ICG - Information Content Group ------------------------------- Have published specification for a CEFACT registry Conducted preliminary audit of CII and e-tendering schemas Project for UN code list formalization (identified task to "gain understanding of genericode") Updated code lists (including rec 20 - UoM and rec 24 - Transport status) TMG - Techniques and Methodologies Group ---------------------------------------- CCTS 3.0 out for public review on April 15 Context methodology requirements by May Core Components Message Assembly - conceptual model proposed Conformance Project, a call for contributions will be issued next week Work on UMM - upgrade to UML 2.0 and align with BRS template. Interim meeting July 16 - Kansas TBG - Trade and Business Group ------------------------------ Closing Plenary slides are available at: http://www.cen.eu/uncefactforum/TBG/TBG%20Home/TBG%20HOME%20Documents/TBG%20Closing%20Plenary%20Dublin.ppt Planning new management structure for TBG (proposal at next forum) Planning New workflow based on three levels of CEFACT deliverables: 1. Tecnical Specifications 2. UN/ECE Reecommendations 3. Business standards (BRS, RSM and schemas) Current Open Development Process only covers type 1. Reviewing this for type 3. TBG 17 - Harmonization Currently finalizing TBG2/TBG3 submission (should be completed in May) 4000 spread sheet lines of candidate components in the queue (not including UBLs) UBL candidate core components should get technical approval (and on queue) in April. Weekly conference calls from April 10th Interim meetings (6 May - Berlin, 13 August - Chicago, 12 Nov - Paris) TBG 14 - Business Process Modeling Reviewed UBL BITS scenario at request of TBG3. Now interested in entire UBL process models as part of International Supply Chain Reference Model. Convergence for new set of BRSs covering sourcing to payment incorporated requirements from UBL (for 2008) Working with TBG19 on government e-procurement requirements Agreed to revisit the approved BRSs (Invoice and Remittance Advice) for UBL input to the second iteration of the same, and approach all the other messages (which are not approved BRSs) as open i.e. UBL requirements will be included in the first BRS iteration.
