Entrust Supports Identity Management Standards at Burton Catalyst Conference

Entrust to Demonstrate Support for Web Services Identity Management Standards at 2003 Burton Catalyst Conference

Service Provisioning Markup Language (SPML) Support Reflective of Entrust's Ongoing Commitment To Identity Management And Web Services Open Standards

Dallas, TX, USA. June 25, 2003.

Entrust, Inc., a leader in securing digital identities and information, today announced that the company will be participating in an OASIS-sponsored interoperability demonstration at the 2003 Burton Catalyst Conference that will showcase how user and device identities can be provisioned with Entrust solutions using the Service Provisioning Markup Language (SPML).

SPML is designed to offer organizations a common XML-based framework to exchange identity management requests and information both within and between enterprises. As part of the multi-vendor SPML Interop demonstration - which will take place July 8th at 2 pm (media only) and July 9th (open to all Conference delegates) in the California Room at The Hilton San Francisco - Entrust will be accepting and processing SPML requests to create user identities and access to its leading Web access management product, Entrust GetAccess. Entrust will also demonstrate the processing and verification of digitally signed SPML requests, reflecting the real world need for authenticity and integrity of SPML transactions.

Once provisioned, Entrust GetAccess enables federated identities and single sign-on through support for the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), and also provides robust access control policies that leverage the eXtensible Access Control Markup Language (XACML) standard.

"Proving interoperability between products that support security standards is critical. Entrust's participation in the OASIS demonstration at Catalyst is a clear indicator that the SPML specification is solid and ready for adoption," said Karl Best, vice president of OASIS. "Entrust contributes to many related security standards efforts advanced within OASIS, including WS-Security. We value Entrust's contributions and support of SPML."

Secure Identity Management and Web Services Delivery

Entrust's support of SPML is a reflection of the company's commitment to solving customer needs around both identity management and Web services. The Entrust Secure Identity Management Solution, which was launched in early April as a result of a strategic relationship with Waveset Technologies, Inc., provides centralized management for identities both within and beyond the enterprise. With a Web services approach to supporting identity management transactions, organizations can rapidly provision a wide range of identities -- including individuals, applications, devices or Web services -- across a broad spectrum of IT platforms.

"We are pleased to further our strategic alliance with Entrust in supporting industry standards," said Michael D'Eath, vice president of corporate and business development at Waveset. "As businesses adopt Web services, SPML interoperability between identity management platforms will be critical to securing transactions based on identity profile and privilege information."

As will be demonstrated at the Burton Conference, Entrust also provides security for these Web services transactions, offering governments and businesses a robust standards-based identity management solution that can address customer needs today and into the future.

"Entrust has always been a strong advocate for open standards, and we are excited by the benefits SPML can deliver to drive the rapid evolution and adoption of Web services and identity management," said Kevin Simzer, vice-president of product development at Entrust. "By incorporating SPML into our solutions, customers will be able to capitalize on an Entrust strategy that is open, interoperable and underpinned by a security infrastructure that can enhance accountability and privacy for provisioning transactions."
