CEN/ISSS has set up a new group to examine the standardization aspects of technologies for digital rights management (CEN/ISSS DRM Group), following the approval of the European Union Directive 2001/29/EC on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the context of the Information Society.
The CEN/ISSS Group which is open to all interested parties - was formed in October 2001, and is under the Chairmanship of Ms Verina Horsnell, European Standards Manager of Sun Microsystems.
CEN/ISSS has made contact with the standards groups known to us, to seek inputs and participation where appropriate.
At present, the first draft of the Report is being prepared. Inputs in connection with this draft were made with a deadline of 18 October. It is proposed that the draft will be placed on this web-site for public comment before the end of January 2003, and an open meeting will be held on 7th February 2003 to discuss the draft - details will be announced.
Meanwhile, you can join the DRM Group by sending a message to Giulia Cipressi at CEN/ISSS (giulia.cipressi@cenorm.be).
The approved Terms of Reference for the CEN/ISSS DRM Group can be accessed here.
