Business Layers to Present SPML at Catalyst Conference

Business Layers to Present SPML at Burton Catalyst North America 2003

Founding Member of Provisioning Services Technical Committee to Present SPML in Conjunction with OASIS Ratification

Rochelle Park, NJ, USA. July 7, 2003

Gavenraj Sodhi, senior technology analyst of Business Layers will be presenting Service Provisioning Markup Language (SPML), the industry's first XML-based specification designed to leverage the reuse of Web services to achieve secure, federated user resource allocation, at the Burton Catalyst North America 2003 conference in San Francisco, Calif. The standard is currently under review by the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), and is expected to achieve official ratification in July 2003.

SPML is designed to achieve secure federated user resource allocation to maximize existing IT resources, reduce administrative costs and enhance security. SPML allows businesses to provide external access to sensitive data and corporate systems while maintaining secure, federated identity management.

"The SPML standard will have a critical impact on the future security of resource provisioning between companies," said Gavenraj Sodhi, senior technology analyst for Business Layers. "By allowing businesses to leverage Web Services, the automation, centralization and management of provisioning access to internal and external corporate data will finally reach the level of simplicity to be effective for customers."

Mr. Sodhi, an OASIS Provisioning Services Technical Committee (PSTC) founding member, is scheduled to present at Burton Catalyst on July 9, 2003 at 4:00 PM Pacific Time at the Hilton San Francisco in California. Mr. Sodhi's presentation will define SPML, discuss its applicability to identity management and provisioning infrastructure, and its upcoming ratification by the OASIS PSTC. He will also brief the conference on the OASIS-hosted SPML interoperability demonstration scheduled for 6:00 PM that evening at the Hilton Hotel, in the California Ballroom.
